Legend says the Mayan gods pooled their wisdom, dreams and love of beauty to create a place where the best of the Caribbean nature came together. The ancient Mayans called the area Xel-Ha: “where the water is born”.
This tropical park is a place of unimaginable beauty, where a turquoise lagoon, a river with a gentle current and an exuberant jungle get together to comprise a unique landscape by the sea. You just need to step into its jungle to find ancient Mayan cenotes.

The above mentioned leads us to foment a cultural respect for life and its diversity by implanting programs to protect and preserve the environment,: Recycling, water treatment plants and the reproduction of species, etc.
At the turtle camp in Xel-Ha we study the life cycle of the white loggerhead turtles, that come to nest from April till November, where annually 20,000 baby turtles are set free.
We also promote Mayan cultural traditions by performing twice yearly a ceremony that blesses the harvest of the Melipona bee. A species that inhabits the plant nursery at Xel-Ha.
Due to its ecological and social programs Xel-Ha has been honored with the distinction of being “A socially responsible enterprise” awarded by CEMEFI.
